Background
DripMap2 is an interactive web application designed to visualize and organize IV infusion setups in critical care environments. Unlike the original DripMap, which simply generated static diagrams, DripMap2 transforms the visualization into a fully interactive, tactile environment where every element can be freely repositioned, locked, or rearranged to match real-world pump configurations. The tool integrates a medication database with drag-and-drop functionality, allowing clinicians to select medications from categorized lists (or free-text) and assign them to specific lumens through an intuitive pill-based interface. Users can adjust line styles, color schemes, and zoom levels in real-time, export configurations as CSV data for reuse across shifts, and manipulate the entire diagram to reflect the physical layout at the bedside. By combining visual clarity with interactive functionality, DripMap2 streamlines line tracing during handovers.
How to Build Your Map
Pick Your Meds: Click the + Select Meds button to open the medication library. You can check the boxes to add infusions to your pool, or skip this entirely and simply type medication names directly into the lumen fields later.
Start with the Access: When you open the tool, you'll see a spot for your first access site; type in the location, like "Right IJ CVC" or "Left Forearm PIV".
Name Your Lumens: Under that access site, give each port a name (like "Distal” or "Lumen 1"). If it’s just a simple IV, you can just call the lumen "PIV 1".
List Your Meds: Next to the lumen name, type in the drips running through it. If you have a manifold with multiple meds, just separate them with a comma (e.g., Levophed, Vasopressin, Neosynephrine). Alternatively, if you used the medication pool, just drag the green pills into the lumen row.
Need More?: Click + Lumen to add another port to that same CVC, or click + Access to add a totally separate site, like a PICC line or an Introducer.
Mistakes Happen: If you add a row you don't need, just hit the "X" button next to it to remove it.
Make the Map: Once your data is in, hit the blue Generate button. Your diagram will pop up instantly on the right.
Hitting Print Layout will automatically center and scale your map so it fits perfectly on a single sheet of paper. Alternatively, just take a screenshot of your organized map.
Clean Slate: If you have a new patient or just want to start over, the red Reset All button wipes everything and gives you a fresh start.
Before resetting, you can use the Export CSV button to save your current setup as text data. Just copy it to a note or file. Later, click Import CSV, paste the data back in, and your entire configuration rebuilds instantly. This is especially useful for standard pump setups that recur frequently in your unit.
Core Features
Homogenous Dragging: When you move a parent node (like a CVC), every attached lumen and medication moves with it as one solid unit.
Anchor Locking: Right-click any node to pin it to a specific spot on the screen. This allows you to "stretch" or "rotate" other parts of the setup around that fixed point.
Reactive Styling: Instantly switch between Straight and Curved lines or toggle the B&W Scheme for high-contrast printing without losing your layout.
Pan and Zoom: Use your mouse wheel to zoom or click-and-drag the background to move the entire map if it extends off-screen.
CSV Export/Import: Save your entire infusion setup as text data that can be copied and stored externally, then reimported later to recreate the exact configuration. This is perfect for standard pump setups that recur frequently across shifts, with no patient identifiers for complete privacy compliance.
