Background

This project began as a tool for myself. I often participate in open mics or give talks, and I wanted a clean, distraction-free way to follow along with my words without flipping through paper or looking down at a phone. I imagined something that would scroll my text slowly and smoothly, so I could focus on delivery. At first, it was just a simple scroller, but I quickly realized I needed more control over the pace, font size, and line spacing. Other apps like this exist on the market but come at a hefty cost, so I wanted to make a free web app/site that accomplished the same thing for free.

Now, the tool allows users to paste in any text, adjust how quickly it scrolls, and choose how big and spaced out the words appear. There’s also an underline mode that highlights each word one at a time, like a guided pointer. You can pause, start from the beginning, or run both scrolling and underlining at once. It’s built for flexibility, so anyone practicing a speech, song, or script can use it at their own rhythm.

What surprised me most was realizing its potential beyond just stage use. This could help people with speech difficulties, reading challenges, or attention differences. The pacing tools and visual cues make it easier to process and follow along. With some tweaks, it could even support screen readers or other assistive tech. What started as a personal convenience might turn out to be something that helps a lot more people.

Instructions

1. Type or paste your text into the box at the top.

2. Choose your font size, scroll speed, and line spacing using the sliders and dropdown menu.

3. If you want each word to be underlined one at a time, turn on Underline Mode and set the underline speed. The farther right the slider, the faster it goes.

4. Click Start to begin scrolling and underlining. You can use both features together or just one.

5. Click Pause to stop. It will remember where you left off.

6. Click Start from Beginning if you want to reset everything and go back to the top.
